S.R.C. Update

The SRC has been very active and the team has managed to raise some much needed capital. An Entertainment Society has been appointed and they report to Ramone, the Entertainment Representative of the SRC.  This group is in charge of fundraisers and student activities as the goal is to represent their educational institution as a group that is not mainly party orientated.

The first fundraiser was a BEER FEST held at “The Lounge,” off campus.  Not only was this fun but it also proved to be a huge learning curve.

The community sector of the SRC has also taken off with grand tour SRC student, Mike Arnold, identifying and arranging new projects for the South African students to get involved in for external credits. These projects are challenging, interesting and fun.

In the way of sport the SRC has a sport fixture every week, with soccer games and volleyball taking place for boys and girls alike.

The bar is now open 5 days a week after renovations and in this was we hope it will encourage people to work at the bar. The student bar is now fully operational and beginning to turn a profit.

With the number of students on campus, food is bound to be a challenge and this is something that the SRC is focusing its attention on.

There are a few more projects coming up such as a sports day, a golf day and volleyball competitions.  The highlight, however, is our annual Monte Carlo function which is a farewell to those students who are leaving.
The SRC is also assisting with the operational staff Christmas lunch and we are happy to be a part of the function.

Finally, we are putting together a range of students to meet once a week to discuss and resolve student issues, mainly academic.
