Monte Carlo – A night where the best hand was dealt.
In hindsight, all pain sweat and tears felt in the preparation of STENDENS annual Monte Carlo Farewell was well worth it.
The evening hosted by Mathew Cornish, head of SRC, was a night never to be forgotten by students, but more importantly the graduates of 2009 and Mauricio - our much loved ex IT “specialist”. No comment on his new position.
It is evenings like those that illustrate the special bond students on campus share with one another. From the farewell song and slideshow for our grads, to the Master and Mistress slow dance by Sprrr (Sibabalwe) and Naartjie (Maartje) the night provided much entertainment and laughter throughout.
Our MC Mathew Cornish went out of his way to highlight some unique characters on campus, much to their shame and our amusement!
The Kings corner and games tables were well occupied throughout the evening with many students, predominantly Dutch, making quite a winning at the poker and black jack tables. South African students, true to their laid back personas, found sitting at the bar more than enough reward.
You may wonder where all this money is going from the evening, but the buy-in money at the games tables totaled R500, which will be distributed to charities of ENTERTAINMENTS choice.
Overall, a successful evening that was enjoyed by all!
